Went into the LGS to pick up the S&W 1076 that I bought on Gunbroker and while standing around (dangerous), I saw this sitting in the rack. It was used, but looked new. It is in a folding AND collapsing stock and is repleat with accessory rails (top, bottom, sides). I thought it was aftermarket, but apparently this is a Ruger stocked item (ATI stock, short heavy barrel, 20-round mag). Priced at $400, I could hardly pass it up (even though I've TRIED to like Mini-14s in past, I have only had them pass through my hands). I know they are worth more than the $440 I paid (with tax), so what the heck. Any thoughts? Anyone else have one?

You made of with a great steal.

I got a 580 series in stainless with 9 mags for $500 from a bro that I know in a gunsmithing class.

The new Mini's shoot better than the old ones.

You got a factory pimped new model for about the same price as a beater old standard model goes for in my area.

I say "you done good".

Definitely a sweet deal. I don't like the ATI stocks myself but at that price I couldn't have resisted either.

Yep, I picked up mine (187 Series Ranch Rifle) for $400 and with it I got 1400 Rounds of 55gr SP, then I paid $80 for the ATI stock. I would say you did pretty good

Yeah...not thrilled with the stock, but I will give it a "shot".  I'll also be on the lookout for a traditional wood one, or maybe a synthetic with more classic lines.  Or maye a padded case to make it a "trunk gun" as is.

Anybody know if the wooden stock off my 187 Series will fit his?

TeddyDog, message me your email and I'll send a few pics of my stock tomorrow.

Might I recommend a Butler creek folding stock. I think it would be a nice folding stock.

Where's the pics???????????????

It sounds like a really good deal.  Gander Mountain wants $799 for a brand new ranch rifle.  My goodness.

Thanks for the offers of replacements stocks.  I have not decided what, if anything, I will do with the stock.  Certainly won't do anything until after I've fired it "as is" (which will probably be a couple of weeks).

Here's a picture (not my rifle of course, but it is just like it).  : )

For $400 I would have bought 3 of them.

Good job.
