Want to buy my little guy a Tac-30 for hog hunting, but there are none around. Anyone know why that is? Does Ruger make runs and I just need to wait for the next one?
Thanks,E. |

these are both standard production rifles....
info taken right from their website.... Davidsons and Lipseys distributors carry them (so most gun shops should be able to get one if their distributor has them in stock) M77 Hawkeye Tactical (stats from Ruger's website) in .308
Mini-30 Tactical (stats from Ruger's website) in 7.62x39

i dont know about a shortage, but sometimes i see a lot of BS on gunbroker...
i would still make some phone calls and get some price quotes... (thats assuming they might be able to attain one) personally, i havent seen a mini-30 tactical in any of my local shops for a LONG time... i think i have seen one in the last year (out of 4 shops) oh, and i saw one at a gun show (but it was crazy over priced) sometimes guns are hard to come by, even production rifles... so, i dont know if there is a shortage but there are none available from Davidsons distributors, they dont have any in stock for some reason. i also checked 2 other distributors but they don't have any either... they are out of stock at Bud's Gunshop too... (big gun shop, sells online, yadda yadda yadda, i am sure you knew that though, but it does not hurt to restate for reference) so, maybe the supply has run dry until they go back into production in the next cycle (i assume they are made in cycles...) i would still make some phone calls though eman, good luck! EDIT: Lipseys does not say if they have them in stock or not. they have a dealer search so you can punch in your zip code and hopefully you can find a dealer that can get you one, that is MSRP so they are not going to sell you one for that. Quoted:
Guy at Lipsy's said they are ghosts. The one on GB, if you read it, isnt even in stock. Looks like a waitn game for another run, ocd's a bitch! E. well heck, the one i saw might have been a 5.56 rifle then... sometimes, i noticed anyway, that Ruger has guns that exist but at the same time dont exist... |
| $600 shipped plus $20 for the transfer. I have put 1,000 rounds through it, the majority Yugo surplus and Silver Bear. Shoots really, really well. Only ammo-related problems I've had were 2 failures to fire with a steel cased Chinese round and a steel-cased Russian round. Everything else runs like a champ through it. I was a little worried about how the corrosive stuff would clean up in a non-chrome lined barrel, but so far there have been no issues whatsoever. |
