Got one in on the freeBR and approved back when it all started. Turn around was pretty quick, less than a week. I think at this point, the only "pro" is that they aren't engraved. Some say that might add a premium to the sell price if you are ever so inclined. All in all, I would say the ATF learned a lesson here, but...nah, they didn't. They'll always go to the side to screw us whenever possible. On a different note, concerning the $0 tax for suppressors, SBR/SBS and AOW's, a lot of folks here (and everywhere in the 2A community) got beat on when they didn't like the compromise made on the Big Beautiful Bill that didn't get these items off the NFA. A lot of bashing telling us to "celebrate the win". It was no win. Many said this will come back to bite us, specifically that a precedent has been set...the $200 tax, which has never been changed, got changed and that would embolden the dems to jack it up. The first attempt came just 18 days after the BBB was signed. Sen. Chris Murphy dropped amendment SA2973 to jack NFA tax to $4,709 per item (the modern equivalent of $200 in 1934), and $55 for suppressors, SBR/SBS, and AOWs. Fortunately, it was "ordered to lie on the table" (fancy government speak for "we're not going to vote on it right now"). Technically, they could pick it up again, but typically this means the amendment is dead. But, it's the first volley and you can bet the dems are going to keep trying until one sticks, especially when the dems get control again. Better get busy grabbing your bucket list while it's still $0 (or $200 for all other items) while it lasts. |

Just an FYI, there were many people that were saying that the "free stamp" was a trap and the proof had something to do with the added statement on the form that said "Approved with conditions see PDF" or something to that effect Well I just moved my free SBR to my trust and that statement is now gone and where before I didn't have a "tax stamp" now it shows the zero dollar stamp. |
