I just submitted a form 1 last week for a 11.5" 5.56. I took the overall length of my Daniel Defense V9LW (16" barrel plus flash hider), and subtracted 4.5" for the overall length of my built. I did not factor in the muzzle device.
V9LW OAL: 35 7/8 (31.875) 16" barrel - 11.5" barrel = 4.5" difference 35.875 - 4.5 = 31.375 SBR Submitted OAL on form 1 as 31.375. Are they going to kick this back in a few months because I didn't subtract the muzzle device length from the overall length? If so, is there anything I can do to correct the mistake instead of waiting until it is kicked back? Thanks. |

Quoted: That's a good point. I guess I should't worry about that and say my flash hider will be pinned and welded if I get any feedback on it? You won't, the OAL in this case will not be a factor in your form being approved or denied. The ATF doesn't know ( and doesn't need to know) exactly the collection of parts you will use. Maybe you used a longer stock setup, for example, to get the extra bit of length than what you would "expect". They will not scrutinize your form to the point to say that "if your barrel length is x, your OAL must be y, or it is rejected". They just want a general idea of those measurements. |
