Hello everyone!

Been a lurker for a very, very long time. Finally ran into a "Should I or Should I not" question regarding my first SBR build. Paperwork is all squared away (Well to the best of my knowledge anyhow ).
I know that I cannot have all the parts lying around as it may mean "intent to construct" without the stamp in-hand (I think that's the right words...)
Built a couple of ARs before, never cared for a SBR until Minnesota finally allowed regular folks to have suppressors. Now I have reason to build a SBR.

Therefore, I have all the parts I need for the SBR lower build minus the 7.5'' upper. Finally my question; Think it would be OK for me to assemble the lower and use it with my other regular o' 16'' uppers until I get the stamp and then buy the 7.5" upper or just stop thinking about it until I get the stamp?
Also, good Idea to engrave lower now or after waiting game?

Thanks guys and gals

Side note:
Going to mate the Adam Arms 7.5 upper with a Royal Arms RAK-15 w/ UBR.

It's fine. Engrave after it goes pending.

Definitely a good idea to assemble it and use it. That way if there's any kind of issue with it you can go ahead and cancel your F1 and file a new one.

Engrave it once you know it works. Or, wait until the form is approved in case you have an issue with the name on the form, since it should match the engraving.

Personally, I'm a fan of engraving before sending in the Form 1. That way in the event the engraver makes a mistake, or your lower gets lost or damaged in shipping, you aren't out the time and money of a stamp. YMMV of course.

Yes you can use the lower with a 16" upper, it's just a regular rifle until paper work is approved.

I just used a 1/16" steel letter punch on my lower, it's under the trigger guard and no one knows it's there and it cost me $0, $10 if you have to buy the set of stamps

THIS.

We just had a post of someone who had their lower butchered by an engraver and the engraver had to replace the lower.
Get it engraved first, THEN file your form 1.

Hmm...did not take into account the engraver may screw up too...We are humans after all.
I hope I find a good engraver here, I know of one shop that does engraving but no clue on their quality or if they outsource it.

I will most likely assemble after engraving and play around with the BCM upper I just found in the my garage this morning.

Thanks for the assist!!
