About to send off for my first stamp but right now it sits as a 11.5 pistol.  The lower I'm registering currently has a spikes battle trigger.  I probably already know the answer but for a combat grade shtf/hd rifle should I drop the coin for a ssa?  I have a g2s in my bench gun which is basically the same trigger

I might just swap in the g2s and try it out

i love my sd-3g. ..fast and fun.

The G2S is an economy version of the SSA. It is only spot tested for QC, and does not have the spec marking. It uses a different means to secure the hammer pin from walking out.

If I had deep pockets and was mildly lazy, I would buy the SSA over the G2S. Why... the hammer pin retainer is mildly a pain in the ass to install. However... for the savings I will deal with the PITA to install the G2S!

From the man himself!

There's less than a dozen justified homicides with rifles in the US every year of a population of 314,000,000 so if you're going to spend hundreds of dollars for "hd" that has a 1/10,000,000 chance of happening within the next year than you should go buy lottery tickets instead.

Thank you for that amazing technical advice.  Sure it will probably and hopefully never be used for defense but that's not going to stop anyone here from spending money on something they enjoy.

So I guess my real question should be is the ssa worth the cost over the g2s

I've got a few ACT's, best bang for the buck in my opinion.

I love my battle trigger, so if you decide to change I'll take it off your hands as that's what I'll be putting in the next build anyway.  I say stay with it though, not sure you'll get $200 worth of diff over it, but whatever makes you happy is ultimately what you should go with.

Not sure why this was moved to the sbr forums but OK...

I just watched the video and seem like the g2s is the way to go for my price

Lol, my guess would be the wording 'SBR' in your title.

Back on topic- I'm torn between the ssa and g2s as well.

LMAO a lot of people angry about the statistical reality that their rambo macho dream probably ain't gonna happen like they play it out on their minds over and over. I have ARs too I just admit that I have them cause they're fun to shoot paper targets with and I don't unnecessarily spend hundreds of extra bucks on marginally improving it for the unlikely chance of life preservative use. I'm not trying to be political, I'm trying to be economical and say no a $200 trigger isn't worth it for "hd" it may possibly be worth it if you're going to pull it 5,000 times and you want to spend an extra 4 cents on each of those shots at the range to make it smoother or lighter etc etc. Objective analysis yo

Just because someone said "combat grade / hd" gun, which are the exact words the OP used, doesn't mean they are drooling to be able to shoot someone.  It means that they want it to work, 100% of the time.
I've dropped some money on some nice parts because I shoot multigun matches and I would like to be more than just competitive.   Does that make me a rambo wannabe?

You're reading things that aren't there, and being less than helpful in a tech section.

OK I'll be honest it's for zombies.

But for real in an sbr regardless of zombies or going Rambo ssa/g2s  or keep the spikes

I personally have the Wilson Combat Single Stage Drop in Tactical Trigger. It's got a very crisp trigger with very short and solid reset. I prefer single stage over 2 stage. Especially for your "Home Defense" scenario.

Here is a link of the item at rainer arms to give you some info:
Not saying you have to buy it there. I got one here off the EE, but they very rarely come up.
Wilson Combat Trigger Link

The ones I have have a break at 3.5-4lbs which again I personally think is perfect. It's not a hair trigger but it's not heavy either. A very nice balance.

Now they also have a MIL/LE model that has the standard 5-5 and 3/4lb trigger pull if you want something that has a little heavier break again for your "Home Defense" gun.

I hope this helps. The other triggers you are considering are great triggers too, I just personally prefer these.

In reference to being "economical". Most people would say if you are going to put your money into anything put it into a trigger. A great trigger can make all the difference. You'll know it as soon as you try it the first time. They might be expensive but to me it is totally worth it.

Best of luck!

I love my SSA-E trigger.  Yeah it hurt spending $225 on a trigger but after you go shoot it for a while and then try someone else rifle who uses a standard trigger...can't even compare. They are worth every penny.

I already have the G2S in my bench gun and I really like it but im just weighing the cost 165 for the G2S or 210 for the SSA

Ordered the g2s today not having laser etching on the side and different roll pins isn't enough to justify the extra cost of the ssa

For competition, i like a 3-1/2lb single stage Timney.

For HD, i like a solid milspec trigger with JP reduced power springs, 4-1/2lb single stage.

Guess I'll trade my 1911 in for a Hi Point and buy $1000 worth of lottery tickets since I'll statistically never need it for self defense

ETA: to make my post relevant to the topic at hand, I am putting a Spike's Ni-Bo battle trigger with some JP 3.5 springs in my SBR, but only because I need a round hammer for my future 9mm upper's bolt.  My other project, a 7.62 Ma-Ten is going to get the SSA-E based on the reputation.  Buy once, cry once.

I was in need of a rail for a build and I traded my SD-3G for the rail and bought an ALG QMS to replace it.  The SD-3G is an awesome trigger, but I'm just as happy with my QMS.

Is there a noticeable difference between the QMS and ACT?

Supposedly only difference in the act and qms is the
Nickel boron but I had 3 of each and the pull to me was way cleaner on the qms then pair that with JP trigger springs. You have a clean 4 lb trigger.

Thanks for the response RDTCU and midwestoffroad.

I did add the JP trigger spring, but I was a chicken and am still using the ALG hammer spring since all I have is m855 and m193 loads.
