I was wondering if the majority is running a h2 buffer with their surpressed 10.5.  I know it is suggested, but I was thinking of going heavier.

What might work for me might not work so well for you.
Experiment.
Maybe yours will prefer an H3 over an H2.

Yeah I was trying to avoid having extra 3 buffers.

What LeonC said:  most (of ours) end up with H2s, some need H3s.

Get a carbine buffer, and an H3 buffer. If neither one works you can mix and match the weights from the two to make a H, and an H2 buffer. Then you can try 4 buffer weights for the price of 2.

Without knowing how large of a gas port you have, I wouldn't be able to tell you which buffer you need.
I run an H2 in my un-suppressed 10.3" SBR.
You're going to be increasing back-pressure with a can, so you will most likely need at least an H2 to slow down the carrier.

H2 surpressed or unsurpressed on dd, psa, noveske.

2 or 3 unsuppressed, X suppressed.

My 10.5" Noveske came with an H2 but runs better (IMO) with a H3.  This is for both suppressed and non-suppressed.

Its a dd mk18 with sdn6. I will be using a 10.5 novke barrel. According to novske, I need at least a h2.

You can probably go with an H3.

The DD MK18 comes from DD with an H buffer stock.  I'm wondering why there is so much use of the H2 and H3 buffers.

Serious question....I'm new to SBR's.  Trying to learn.

Awareness of heavier buffers comes from using silencers.  On semi rifles we get away with a lot of stuff that would be a problem in automatics.

after assembling my new PSA 10.5 on my SBR lower a couple days ago i had her running fine with an H2 or H3.  i left the H3 in there as it cycled fine and locked back without issue, and the recoil was just slightly less i think over the H2.  I have a full-time suppressed SBR upper that i just slap on when i want to go that route to i wont have to keep swapping out buffers. :)

They don't know... they just repeat what they have heard.
a standard carbine buffer will work just fine 90 percent
Of the time for a short barrel AR in 5.56.

I shot 1700 rounds one week through a 10.5 that way.

I don't run guns at 900rpm cyclic so I don't break a lot of parts. Bolts and FCGs though would be the likely losers.

Honesty my first 10.5 was a noveske. When it came time to order a buffer I didn't want to order twice. So I went to there website and looked at there complete gun specs to see what buffer they ran in there factory guns. Website said h2 so I ordered a bcm stock assembly with an h2. Ran an aac m4-2000 with out changing buffers. So I was good surpressed and unsurpressed. Another noveske 10.5 later I was still running 100%, then a 10.5 psa upper was 100%, now a Daniel defense 10.3 is a 100%. So no reason for me to switch if its not broke why fix or tinker. And this is with brass or tula, wolf, ect. Just an if it ain't broke.

I found out the hardway on my SBR the buffer issue . LMT 10.5" upper , unmodified in anyway, Ran H3 buffer and had a nightmare of a time.
swapped bolt , swapped mags , then it hit me to try my carbine buffer from my M4 clone since they are both carbine length rails and gas systems and presto it worked
I about screamed though thought I built an SBR lemon .. Now I have a reg buffer , carbine , h2 & H3 in my stable of AR's

Every gun is going to run different and different ammo's are only going to make it vary even more.  In my sbr I run an H3 with spikes 17-7 spring, and it functions with my 7.5" with a kx3 pig, psa 10.5", psa 12.5".  Only problem is on the 10.5" after swapping to the spikes buffer spring it wants to double feed on PMC Bronze, but works fine with wolf, mfs, and m193 and m855.  Need to try some tula as it maybe even weaker, but my fix for the 10.5" not cycling on weak ammo is a can.  And the new spring probably needs 500 rds to break it in.  My other rifles which vary from 14.5"-16" carbines, 14.5"-16" mids on 5.56 and 7.62x39 all run with spikes h2 buffer, and all cycle fine with the weaker ammo.  I think the mfg.'s are opening up the gas ports slightly to cut done on warranty issues from gun not cycling on weak and cheap ammo.  IMHO.  Hope that helps.

when I called LMT they also told me to run an H with their 10.5 and an H2 when supressed

I run a Spike's ST-T1 buffer with my LMT 10.5 with & w/o a can with no problems with any ammo I use.

It may be harder on the BCG, I don't know that's the case for sure, but it does go bang every time?
