I'm looking at sending my lower to Orion to have it engraved for the SBR project I am starting, as a selected Christmas gift from the Mrs.

What is the preferred location to have the engravings placed?  After reading their page on SBR engraving, I feel like I might want to go with the front of the magwell.  Most photo's I take of the rifle will be side shots and the front of the magwell doesn't stand out.  Most importantly, this doesn't require me to totally strip my lower.

My lower is a factory BCM and I've never taken off the buffer tube.  As a side question –– would removing it ruin the factory staking on the castle nut?

Anyway, what is the preferred engraving location?  Any one location better than the other?  As of now, I think I would prefer the front of the magwell as it's not as obvious and it's just less work on my end.  Is there a reason why I should rethink this?

I can't wait to be part of the SBR crowd

If it is short enough you can have it done inside the trigger guard or the very front of the mag well.
I needed a billboard for my trust.

I have three of my lowers at Ident currently being engraved.  I built them up and function tested them before filling out the Form 1s.  I originally wanted to have mine engraved under the trigger guard, but idiot me couldn't for the life of me get the trigger guard back off.  I opted to then get my lowers engraved in front of the magwell.  It's the most discreet place to put the engraving IMHO.
