My F1 has been at the NFA branch since the 3rd week in January, and I put 11.5" on the barrel length. I have since really liked the idea of making a mk18 mod0 clone. I think I remember reading on here that it has to be manufactured in accordance to the F1 but after that you can change it. Would I be legal if I borrowed an 11.5 upper from my dealer, threw it on my lower for 3 seconds, took it off and handed it back? My lower is a pistol lower as of now.
Also, how do I update the ATF on the perm change to 10.5"? Also, I will be getting a surefire fa556-212 or surefire mini so if I am stupid for wanting 10.5 over 11.5 please tell me. |

Were you using a muzzle break? both SF's MB and FH mount .. could not distinguish less wear from one or the other. 11.5 is way less abusive on the can. |

That's the way to do it. Build it per the configuration you submitted, even if that configuration last about 3 seconds, then change to 10.5". You do not have to notify NFA branch of any changes to barrel length, caliber or overall length. |

You do not have to notify NFA branch of any changes to barrel length, caliber or overall length. yep, only notify them of a permanent change, which is pretty much impossible to do on an AR, since you'd have to be a moron to permanently attach the upper and lower. |
