I finally got the parts for my 11.5" BCM yesterday. Today, a buddy and I went to try it out. First shot and I get a double feed (Winchester 55 gr 5.56). Clear it, happens again. I have an H-buffer in it, so I take the standard buffer out of my 16" middy and but it in the 11.5". Same thing, one shot, double feed. Change magazines (AE 55 gr .223) shoots fine for the most part. Happened once in 30 rounds. These were ejecting to 3 o'clock. Switch to the other magazine and ammo, one shot then double feed. Then, same ammo and magazine but one round at a time. Bolt locked back every time. I added the o-ring to the extractor and will try that this weekend. Seems like an extraction issue. Does that sound right? Any help would be appreciated!

BCM Demo/scratched upper
BCM standard barrel
BCM BCG
YHM low profile gas block
BCM Gunfighter Charging Handle
PSA lower
DPMS parts kit
BCM Buffer tube, spring, and buffer

ETA: The last shot with the Winchester 5.56, the bolt locked back and the case stayed about a third in the chamber. Not jammed, a quick tip back and it fell right out.

I thought BCM was a nonfailer brand. Is the double feed composed of 2 unspent rounds gammed in the  barrel ext? If so I would sure think its mag related. If not its an ejector/extractor problem. The oring will do the trick if it was the extractor. Good call for that upgrade anyways.

My 10.5 would not fully eject about every 5th round and try and reload the empty with a new round. An extra powered evtractor spring fixed the problem.

Thanks for the replies guys. It was trying to feed a new round into a partially extracted spent round. I really want to go try it, but I am off to go snowboarding for the day. If there is enough light when I get back, I will go out, tomorrow for sure.

The o-ring should fix your problem. You have an extraction problem with that type of failure/jam. Happy shooting!

I posted this in another thread. Not an SBR, but similar issues.

My Bushmaster lower and 16" Noveske upper hasn't run right since I've owned it. Upon the advice of a very fine person who just happens to be a member here, we changed the buffer spring, replaced the buffer with an H2, replaced the ejector spring, and replaced the extractor spring (which was weak as hell). It how runs 100% over the last 200. I had trouble running 30 without a malf before.

Seems to have fixed it. I only got to run thirty rounds this morning. I put 15 rounds in 2 pmags, one of which I was having issues with. I also used the same winchester 5.56. Ran fine, bolt locked back on both mags, shells ejected to 3-4 o'clock.
