| I am just about to finish filling out the ATF form for SBR and try the signature route. I wanted to know if I need to go set up a sit down meeting with my local Chief or is it ok to have this thing dropped off. I don't know much about the Chief so I can't say what his opinion is on this matter. |

His task is quite simple and he shouldn't have any reservations about doing his job. I guess if he wants a face to face, dont know why, youve got too....but no biggy. |

My local Sheriff will not sign for anyone other than his butt buddies. The asshat will not even give a legitimate reason for not signing for law abiding citizens. I voted against him last time and will do it again. I went the trust route. You call an attorney? IMO, the trust route is not safe. |

Just seems to me that a nameless, faceless, legal entity would be an easy target for some govt agency or bureaucrat to dissolve or just plain not recognize. I could be wrong. |
| I dropped off my paperwork at the sheriff's office on Monday and got called the following Monday to pick it up. The woman at the desk knew exactly what an ATF Form 1 was, as the sheriff here as approved a number of them. No meeting or anything else on my part was required. |

Mine was great. I called and asked if I needed to mail it or drop it off. The lady I spoke to said hold on a minute while she checked his schedule. She then asked when I could be there. 45 minutes later I was sitting in the Chief Deputy's (he signs as Chief Deputy John Doe for Sheriff James Doe) office talking about guns and suppressors while he had someone call in a check on my license. He signed and we talked for another 10 minutes before I left. |

thats a lucky break, mine insists on doing a background check each time before signing... oh well, at least he signs them There is three month grace period with mine.....meaning as long as he as done one on you in the last three months, you dont need another. Thats the only thing that holds him up more than a few days. |
