| Hey guys, this may be a little newbish but I wanted some opinions. I had a quick question I was hoping you could help me with. I have an older Semi-auto shotgun that I need to replace the recoil buffer in. I have a new buffer but it is slightly loose, due to the hole that the buffer nipple fits into is slightly enlarged. I was debating on using a little bit of some kind of adhesive around the nipple area to make sure it stays in place under use and recoil. I was wondering if you think this would be alright and if you could recommend me an adhesive that would work well for the application? Thanks |

Something like Teflon tape wraps around the nipple to build it up larger will hold it in place in the channel isntead. Really, photo would help, since they may be a better way to skin the cat if the nipple channel is way over sized instead. It's for a newer style SPAS-12, here's a link to what he buffer looks like. The recessed hole in the back of the receiver that the nipple fits into is slightly enlarged. It looks like the previous owner nicked the hole with a punch at some point so the nipple doesn't fit snugly as it should. http://www.blackjackbuffers.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=886 |
Would help to see just how much the lip section was over sized now, but if if push came to shove, you could just hot glue it in place with the nipple section at the back channel to hold in place. hence all the impact to it is just straight back, and the nipple just hold in place so you can change then out when needed quickly isntead.

It actually looks like the entire recessed lip is beat up, some parts are worse than others. I also recieved the other brand of buffer today, it will barely stay in. You can literally give tap the back of he receiver with your hand and it will pop out. https://flic.kr/p/HMQKeL https://flic.kr/p/JJ6soP |

Looks good enough to me,
Hence a little Teflon tap wrapped round the nipple and lower reduced section of the buffer to build them up a touch wider, tie some dental floss around the lower reduced section just below the nipple, feed the end of the floss through the butt plate channel, and use the dental floss to pull the built up buffer nipple into the channel to seat it in place.. |
