I had every intention of making a little .22lr a while ago. even got a barrel off someone here and the project never ended up going anywhere.
few years later and Im back on it. So, upper receivers are being maid out of plastics, aluminum, and some junk metals in the case of the p22 and mosquito for a while. will schedule 80 304ss be safe for a .22lr receiver? What do bolts run as far as hardness? I have some unknown material that wont rust, guessing it is 304 or 316 of some sort, I would love to use it for a bolt, but not sure if hardness is an issue. Again, aluminum slides on .22s, so a stainless bolt should be good. |

I stumbled upon a dental kiln a few years ago, so as long as it works properly then heat treating shouldnt be an issue.
I was hoping to use what I had laying around but sadly they were scrap and I am not sure what they are. I might try to find a bolt someone has in a scrap bin (basing the gun off of a ruger mark II/III) or buy one new. |
