A buddy of mine asked me to take a look at his 16 gauge Browning Auto-5 because it is having failures to eject. The serial number (barrel and receiver numbers match) puts it as being made by FN in 1947 in Belgium. The barrel is marked for 2 3/4 shells and is also marked 16-70, but it looks like the ejector and ejection port are sized for the smaller 2 9/16 shells. I will try to post pictures to show this. The ejector is about 2 9/16 (65mm) from the chamber and the ejection port is about 2 9/16 long. Should these be longer and is this causing the ejection problems?

I have a 2 3/4" Sweet 16 in the shop. I will check its ejection port length in the morning. LATER... Pictures of a 1954 2 3/4" Sweet 16 (Does your ejector slide back beyond the end of the barrel extension like the one in the picture below

Thanks for the pictures. The ejection ports look like they are the same length.
In the picture of the ejector and barrel extension in the first post, the ejector is as far back as it will go and stops close to the end of the extension. It looks like the one you show goes back farther. I think this might be my problem. |
