I have a friend that owns a Carcano 91/38 Carbine that will not fire. I have not seen the gun, and have only heard the story. He claims a local smith has tried a new bolt and firing pin and it still just lightly strikes the primer.  Any ideas?

It surrendered again!

So the smith put in a new bolt and firing pin, did he bother to replace the striker spring in the bolt? Is the firing pin long enough? Have him remove the bolt and turn the back to release the pin forward and see how far it protrudes.

I knew there would be a joke like that.

I'll ask and see if that's been done. Thanks!
