I have a Sabre Defence upper that I got before they were shut down. It's the piston version that I "think" was built with an Adams Arms kit, please correct me if I'm wrong. It's a 16" barrel upper and it has a 7" Samson rail. The barrel in this thing is amazing but I hate the rail, and I've had some issues with the piston.

Is there any reason that I couldn't take out the piston, replace the gas block and bcg, and replace the gas tube and make it a DI gun? Thanks for any info.

Sell it and buy a DI upper and have money left over.

Piston uppers cost more than DI guns do, so even selling a used upper, you should be able to buy a new DI upper.

If you really want to keep all the parts and just convert, you will need a gas block, gas tube, and a BCG. Check the size of the hole in the barrel to make sure its the proper size for a DI system. You can also buy an adjustable block if you arent sure and tune it as needed.

Check the hole in the upper receiver as well, some piston units have a tendancy to wear out the upper receiver hole and the gas tube may have room to move around. bad news if its out of place when the BCG slams home and pushes it out of the front of the upper. There was a thread on here someplace of that happening. The tube came loose and the BCG pushed it forward and bent the gas tube.
