I'm really not sure where to post this. So Mods feel free to move if needed.
My father-n-law gave me this rifle but he removed the bolt in the early 90's he has since lost the bolt. So I had a thought. Can a machinist turn down a Remington 700 bolt to work in the Sako Action? I believe the Sako bolt is a 2 lug design. Open to suggestion. Here is what I have done: Called Beretta they said call Sako Sako wants me to send the gun to them. But I rather keep local if possible. Searched Gun Broker/EBAY = nothing found Called Numrich = nothing found Called Midwestgunworks (MGW) = nothing in Stock *Called Accuflight = $1089 for action Thanks for any inputs |
| I would send the gun to Sako. I find the gun companies (or really ANY machine companies) don't like to send out parts like that because they are afraid of liability if installation is messed up. Probably easier to ship it to them and let them put a new bolt in and check the headspace. Plus, I can't think of anyone else who might have those in stock. |

If the FIL hasn't moved since the bolt was removed it's probably just hiding out and needs to be flushed out.
Otherwise, you'll probably have to send the gun to SAKO. There are a couple of gunsmith/machinists around that could make a bolt, but the trick would be getting them to do the work. Modifying a bolt will be more involved than simply reducing the diameter, the lugs and bolt face may be all wrong, and more fundamental, the sear on the cocking piece may not fall anywhere near the trigger. Have you called Accuflight? http://www.accuflite.com/catalogmain.htm |

My luck it will show up American pickers some day.
