I'm putting together an AR to trade my buddy for the Mauser action he gave me, he's old school, benchrest, prarie dogs and hunting rifles. This will be his first AR.

We decided on a collapsable stock since he's planning to use the rifle in various weather conditions from summer prarie dogs to winter coyotes, and share it with his diminuitve wife and his kids.

Since he doesn't know what he likes, I got him a cheap carbine stock off the EE to start with. Since I've shot with him for more than 30 years, I know he will be frustrated trying to settle the carbine stock on a bag, so I made him a fix.

Goes like this

Made from a heavy wall 1/2" aluminum tube that I use for pillars, with a piece of aluminum angle stock milled to a press fit and secured with a couple sheet metal screws.

Now it should settle nicely in a rabbit ear bag, and you just remove the screw and replace the sling swivel as needed for field use.

Flame away!

You want me to flame away? OK here goes.

You made a nice looking part, that serves a useful purpose.
Good job.

What can I say that has not already been said?

It was cheap and easy to make, looks like it should work, and is color coordinated too.

The surest proof you have an idea is it gets ripped off, like the front handguard removal tool someone posted here a few years ago.

Thanks guys, I'm doing the gun in Brownells Spray'n Bake  teflon in Dark earth, so yep, color coordinated.

Range report will be a while, the barrels waiting for the rest of the rifle in Nebraska......, the rest of rifle is waiting in Florida for the rest of the stock assembly and a free float tube for paint.
