Hey guys, I finally got my 700! But now im not sure how to get my Bushnell 3200, 10x40 level with the bore. I bought a leveling kit but I find that it isnt very accurate. Any tips, or pointers? Thanks in advance for your help.

They are the new Leupold rings and bases (the front one twists in, and the back one gets tightened between two screws).

hang a weighted string (like a plumb bob) from the ceiling, level the rifle and line up the verticle crosshair and with the string

Did not think of that. Thanks!

Also, loctite those screws. I can't stand that scope mounting system because after a few shots, the screws will slightly loosen, and you lose zero quite often unless you do something to hold the screws in place.

If you find that the plubmbob trick doesn't suffice (it should), you can use a couple small cable levels from the hardware store, one on the scope turret, the other on a flat part of the action, or use the wheeler level level level setup.

As a second opinion, I have those same mounts on all my rifles including a 7MM Rem Mag and a .338.  Never had them come loose and I NEVER use lock tight.  Been using them since the 1960s when they were made by Redfield.

After you get the scope aligned with the plumb bob or level, take it to the range and place a target at the bottom of a 4 foot tall piece of card board.  Center up a group and then run the elevation screw up 30 MOA or so.  Fire a second group using the same point of aim as the first.  Use a plumb line to make sure that your second group is plumb with the first and that the elevation screw actually went the distance you cranked in.

The problem with many scopes, even the high priced brands, is that the screw that elevates the POA isn't plumb with the cross hairs so when you elevate your POI might be left or right of your POA.  Scopes also don't move in exact MOA on IPHY.
