In the industry, the schools with the top reputation for turning out stone cold professionals are Colorado School of Trades, and Trinidad Junior College.
Others have good reputations too, but these are the top. Here's the list: Colorado School of Trades 1575 Hoyt Street Lakewood, CO 80215 Phone: 800-234-4594 Lassen Community College P.O. I went to Colorado School of trades.
Learned a shit ton. Had a fuck ton eof fun. We all got jobs when we got out. Now I think only a handful are actually "gunsmiths" for a living. One buddy at Mcmillan, One at Les baer, A bunch went to Gander but they got rid of their gunsmith shps. |

Most schools are two years long for full time students. Some students at Trinidad are selected to enter the "third year" program in which they work in the retail shop.
If you're interested in the summer programs, the time for that depends on your own commitment. Last summer at Trinidad there were two guys in my class that were there for 9 weeks. One is retired military, the other a kid from down where I grew up that was a sophomore in college in real life. Do a search on "NRA Gunsmithing" for links to the four schools that participate in the summer program. |
