Got a bushmaster ACR coming out of pawn and its covered in sand/tan paint,   Pretty sure its not duracoat/similiar, but if it is what are my best options to remove the paint?

I plan on carb cleaner for the metal parts but dont want to hurt the plastic.

Brake fluid on plastic.  Its a slow process, but it does work.
You can use Aircraft Stripper for aluminum, didnt harm the
anodizing on my AR.

I just ran into this issue at my job last week. I fully disassembled the rifle and used brass brushes on the metals and CLP and synthetic brush on the plastic. Let the plastic soak for a good time in the CLP and it'll come off

I've had pretty good luck with one of those orange strippers. I think it's Citrustrip( it's at work, I'm not).  It will take off most powdercoat if kept wet long enough, Pretty sure it won't attack plastic or aluminum, but I'd watch carefully.

Will the aircraft stripper take off the epoxy type paints such as Norrell's and Duracoat?

If not what will?
