I have a barely used Weatherby Orion over under.  From day one, the inertia trigger has not functioned reliably.  With low brass loads––it's a single shot.  short of shipping it back to Weatherby, does anyone have any suggestions?  It is the made in Japan variety, I believe by SKB.  Thanks.

Are you familiar with the functioning of the inertia trigger system? Take the stock off and have look inside. If it works properly with heavy loads it could be something as simple as a wood chip or grime slowing or limiting the movement of the inertia block.

If your local gunsmith is familiar with inertia triggers they should be able to determine the cause of your issue.

Part number 709016 is the enirta block.

With the butt stock off, check it movement, that is lubed, and moves cleanly without any binding (should only have spring tension).

A stated above, could be debris in the action, the block link may be dry, or binding as you move it back and forth.

Also, may help before you put the stock back on to push the block slightly to one side, and move it back and forth, then to the other side and do the same if you feel any binding as you move the block backwards ( to loosen it up, hand lap if it there is any binding going on).

Short of that, a bent or over tension block spring could be the problem with the block not moving back to cycle the trigger corrrectly on the light loads (read will need a gun smith to change the block spring).
