I'm looking to fit a new front sight to my ruger 44 carbine, i purchased the sight set from WGS, it seems the front dovetail has been messed with the proper sized sight is waay too loose. Is there a way to shim the sight up to make it tighter or would i be better off getting the next size up and file the sight to fit the dovetail?

I was also thinking about using a brass strip to wedge under the sight to tighten it up then fix with red locktite. I would like to do it the proper way without modifying the barrel as its not really something i would like to ruin.

Thanks for any help.

There are several way to tighten a dovetailed junction. Heres one that I drew up for someone, somewhere, sometime ago...

Awesome I think the first pic will fit the bil thanks, just for clarification though, in the second pic do u peen the bottom of the sight itself or the engagement on the front of the sight.
Thank you

The 2nd pic is showing your where to peen the sight to achieve the fit the 1st pic is describing....in other words you do not have to curl up the entire bottom portion of the sight's male dovetail, just the mid section.

Did I explain what I'm thinking?
