I have a v-Tac handguard I need to remove that is locktighted on (red).

I know I need to heat it to get it to break down the locktite.  What should I use to heat it?  Do I have to worry about getting the alluminum too hot and having it change color (its anodized) or anything like that?

How do I know when to stop applying heat?

you need to use either a heat gun or a small propane torch to reach enough heat to break it loose ,
just work the heat back and forth and not in one centered area . thats what i had to use when i had to deal with red , i use a small torch , you may try a flame from a candle right at the source ive used that to .  hope it help you out

Some have suggested a soldering iron on the screw itself.
