I have a model 96 Swedish mauser that I picked up that has been sporterized and re-chambered to 257 Roberts. I did not do this and do not know the gunsmith that did.
I finally shot it this weekend and inspected the spent case for signs of pressure. There was no bulging of the case, but I did notice that the primer had seemed to move back. The primer was no longer flush with the bottom of the case. If that makes any sense. The cartridges were not factory new, they were bought at a gun show from some reloader. I did try firing a couple of these cases in a factory Ruger model 77 and they fired fine and the primer was still flush after firing in the ruger. Any suggestions are appreciated. TIA |
