Hi.

I am interested in learning some basic and intermediate gunsmithing. Unfortunately, where I live there is NOWHERE to go on a formal basis. Hell, there doesn't even seem to be a place for me to learn elementary machining, but I'm working on that.

Has anyone tried the AGI series of videos? I recognize that these things will make me a professional gunsmith much the same way as watching "Quincy" will make me an MD, but I guarantee it will teach me more than I know now, and perhaps enough for me to land an apprenticeship at the local Gander Mountain or other local shop.

Any and all comments welcome.

Thanks.

In my experience 'Quincy' would  come closer to qualifying you as an MD than AGI videos will to qualify you as a gunsmith.

I have been a gunsmith for 10 years or so and a military small arms armorer for 12 years+ prior to that.

I went to a 2 year gunsmithing program at Yavapai College in AZ,

I have watched a couple of AGI videos, In my opinion they are overpriced and overrated.

You would get closer to your goal by scouting garage sales and buying old guns that do not work.

Buy an assortment of different action types in rifle, pistol and shotgun.

Disassemble and make them functional and aesthetically pleasing would go a long way to helping you reach your goal.

No video's, correspondence courses or books can replace hands on experience.

Charles.
