Has the barrel been fired?

The reason I ask is because the bore will have erosion near the chamber throat - no way do you want to add chrome over that.

I've never heard of such a service (and wouldn't buy it if it was offered).

I don't think you can get it done aftermarket.

The reason being that the barrel makers will machine the steel to a slightly larger ID if they know it will be chromed.  After all, the Chrome needs some thickness to work (at least a mil, probably more like .002").

Probably easier just to buy a new barrel altogether.  Probably same cost, too.

Chrome thickness in an AR barrel usually runs around .0005" per side.  The bore has to be made to the larger diameter at the factory to accomodate the chrome.
