This week we're offering a kit that combines two of our most popular upgrades for the mini mill. The air spring kit provides better support for the mill head, and the belt drive kit replaces the noisy, fragile drive gears with a quiet, reliable belt drive system. We've noticed that lots of customers buy the two kits together (makes for a great weekend project), so this week we've combined them to save you $25 compared to buying them separately.
Special of the Week Mini Mill Upgrade Kit Includes 2258 Air Spring Kit and 2560 Mini Mill Belt Drive Kit Much quieter operation Spindle speed up to 4300 RPM Allows travel to the top of the column while providing better support for the mill head No more broken drive gears The belt drive kit provides an easy-to-install alternative to the noisy and fragile factory-installed gears that drive the spindle on the mini mill. The kit includes one belt. Change speeds without any tools. Simply remove the guard, loosen the lever locks and move the belt from one pair of pulleys to the other. Low speed range is 0-1700 RPM. High speed range is 0-4300 RPM. The air spring kit provides all the parts required to change to a vertical air spring that mounts inside and above the column. With the air spring installed, you can move the mill head up until the top of the casting is almost flush with the top of the column. You can move it down until it almost contacts the adjustable Z-axis stop set in its lowest position. This air spring has about 35 pounds of force. This is not enough to totally support the head, but it is a heck of a lot more support than the torsion arm provides. Do not buy this kit if you have a HiTorque Mini Mill. Most or all of these features are already included on the HiTorque mills. Haven't seen an Enco email in a few days, that is not necessarily "normal", and have been seeing more MSC traffic....
so I called Enco to see what is up.... The change will not be till August. Till then, business as usual at Enco. they did say that if there are things that you've purchased at Enco; after the 'move', the prices you paid on those items will remain the same for 1 year. |

nice little vise. flat within specs (0.0002") mine was right at 0.0002". the only issue I would see for your set up, is securing it to the table. I can just clamp it in my big vise They're on ebay, and you can save a few dollars there vs their website |

In AXA and BXA they sell any of the holder styles that are available in the set. CDCO Lathe tooling page I have been buying the AXA and BXA sizes for about 6 years from CDCO, recently it appears they have a new source and the holders are larger, better finished, but have gone down from 10mm set screws to 8mm. I like the new ones, its just a pain to need 2 different Allen type wrenches for the same series tool holders. BTW any time you order from them, throw in a center drill set p/n 44501. This is a #1, #2, #3, #4, and #5 C-Drill set for only $6 and it usually won't add anything to your shipping cost. No relation other than a mostly satisfied customer - sometimes it will seem like they misplaced your order and the next day UPS will show up with a heavy box. |

well I guess I'm done with MSC.
just spoke with one of their CSR's in order to get Enco pricing, it has to be something you purchased in the past 12 months from enco, and the MSC price will only stay at that price for 12 months. If for some reason you're not shown that price, you can call Customer Service and they'll over ride it
and... MSC pricing reflects their customer model, typically larger companies who need items right away.. so in essence you pay more to cover the cost of their padded shipping model. I kept a running list on my ipod touch of items I needed from Enco, and when a 15-20% off + free shipping code popped up I would order the entire list... Lather, rinse, repeat. My home shop is a bit over the top compared to most as I have 4 mills and 4 lathes. 2 mills are factory CNC and a third is in process of a retrofit. I have a CNC turning center and will be doing retrofits on 2 other lathes. My sinker EDM is still in several different creates waiting for the mythical "spare" time to be put back together since my move. I will likely wire up the heat treat oven tonite. Still Jonesing for a good surface grinder as I hate having to drive 42 miles to use my uncles. I go through Mobile Vactra #2 like you would not believe. Enco's discount and free shipping was the bomb for ordering 3x 5 gal. Same goes for soluble oil, I use Rustlick WS5050 and that disappears faster than the free beer at a company BBQ. Lastly, when you only needed a few feet of odd sized material, you could order 3-4ft lengths and have them at your door in a day or 2. I opened my MSC account in 92, but I have been an Enco customer since 1980 in the bad old buyer beware days when much of what they sold wasn't worth the shipping cost. But the other hidden gems made it all worth while. Well back to work, that O1 won't turn its self.

| You can get a 3 axis Sino scale from ebay for around 500 dollars including shipping. Scale can be up to 1000mm so that will cover just about any mill out there. The only thing you get with Shooting Star is "Made in USA/Canada" if that means anything to you. The optical scale is at least 5 micron accuracy, there are 1 micron scales out there too. They are accurate enough that you can not only use it for mills, but also grinder and EDM machines. |

I got the x and y axis scales mounted on my mill this weekend.. I had to make my my own mount for the Y axis reader as the stuff supplied was crap/poorly designed.

HGR is like the abandoned gold mine that still holds a few treasures.
Maybe 5 years back or so when they first started selling online (ebay) I bought a bunch of tool holders from them. Good deals. HGR is huge - and the best way is to show up for a Saturday early bird sale and walk the isles and be ready to make cash offers. That is a bit hard for me living in CO and HGR being in OH.

8" Shear and Brake Combination - CLOSEOUT 
This small shear and brake combination is great for small sheet metal projects. It cuts metal, plastics, and printed circuit boards. It accommodates material up to 7.75" (197 mm) wide, and the bending brake will make bends up to 90 degrees. It includes a full length bending die as well as four different length smaller dies. The base of the machine is 9.4" x 5.4". The reason these machines are on closeout is because they have too large a radius at the bottom of the left shear guide. This place is Aluminum Heaven! zomg.. this place has almost everything and lots of it. Spread between two huge buildings, and a large assortment on racks outside the buildings.. it's sorted by type (plate, block, round, etc..) and composition (6061, 7075, etc..) you can get things cut, if needed Guy running it has been at it over 30 years and is quite nice. Gotta bring cash is the only deal I paid $2.50/lb for an assortment of stuff. I will be back! |
