IDK about the under-barrel thing but it looks like there's a very obvious forward hand support. So... not an SBR but I'd think that would be an AOW.
That's a kind of tricky issue though. Angled foregrips are allowed on pistols, vertical ones are not. At what angle does it go from being vertical to angled? That one does look pretty vertical from this picture though. |

All I see is the addition of a much needed safety feature. You guys are a bunch of weirdos looking for NFA violations everywhere... ;) |

I think they're looking to have it count as an angled-foregrip, like how the Magpul AFG has a tech-branch letter on it that you can have on on an AK or AR pistol and it's not an AOW. That it has to be a "perpendicular" grip not angled to be an AOW. Watching some product videos , the faux second muzzle is just an aesthetic/cosmetic device for now, a placeholder of sorts, and the hole or void there is for a light/laser module CAA plans to sell. Makes sense since the CAA/Mako/FAB "Israeli Esthetic" is to leave no surface untouched for some extra ribs, grooves, or a shark-fin. Hey um CAA? Could I just have a flat plug there instead? Kthanxbye.

It's not any kind of a grip- angled or vertical. It serves two functions: 1) Mount safety block 2) Contain some to-be-integrated future flashlight or laser device If someone wants to put their hand, foot, or face on it, that's up to them, not the Tech Branch of the BATFE. |

That too. If it serves a bunch of "other functions", besides just an AFG, then even the tech-branch "AFG on pistol" approval is moot. Looks like it holds a spare Glock magazine too. Another piece of the "Israeli Esthetic" because of how all the IDF and reservists etc. walking around with CAR's and M4's and Tavors have to be "mag ON, but not IN". Although IIRC, forward mounted pistol mags with a rail-clamp baseplate have been ruled VFG's and AOW's in the past. But I could be wrong on that. I figure CAA isn't going to invest in the tooling or molds if they haven't done their homework. |

Amen to that, if I end up with one of these I would rather have an old wine cork in there than that silly barrel looking thing! So, it is looking like these modules are going to end up at around three bills. I've never messed with one of these bodies, how do they work? (At work, cannot pull up YouTube.) If one were to get one, a 300 dollar trade in .40 and an extended LW 9mm conversion barrel i would think this could be a neat little piece. Does the linkup to a charger mount up with the rear sight and back plate? |

Does the linkup to a charger mount up with the rear sight and back plate? The pistol just sits inside the shell and works exactly as it does in your hand. There's no permanent modification, the pistol just snaps into place, and there's a small square cover that goes over the back of the slide and sights behind the ejection port, grabbing the grip serrations, and there's two little projections that act as the ambidextrous charging handles. The little cover for the slide is not permanently attached in any way either, no pins or anything, it is just held in place by the rest of the Roni stock/shell system. |
