Taylor sent a presser out, which Shooting Illustrated regurgitated faithfully: https://www.shootingillustrated.com/content/first-look-taylor-company-tc-73-lever-action-carbine/ At this point, I'm tempted to take a 9mm ball cartridge, pull the bullet, dump the podwer, then stack bullet and case against each other and whack it with a hammer. Note that although that may work, there may still be a problem if a) the primer foil jumbled or otherwise sitting worse against the anvil, so it cannot take any damage, b) the primer cap sticking out. |

I emailed Taylors about this last week. CS says they expect to receive their first shipment in mid-late June. Not sure where they are being shipped from or what the turn time is for a customer delivery. These look like neat guns but I'll probably wait for them to be in stock at retailers. Street price on Taylors tends to run ~20% off consumer-direct pricing. |

I still want to buy it, but inflation has been a PITA over the last year, and I was hoping that "street price" wouldn't be what was last year's MSRP. I've also only ever seen Taylor's in stock at one LGS, and only the bare minimum; nothing so exotic as non-standard caliber lever actions. So I'll be ordering this thing blind, whenever there is a confluence of "it's available" and "I have the time/money to pick one up". |

According to a review at GunsAmerica, Taylor took a blacklist approach to safety. The manual prohibits a particular brand of excessively pointy bullets, but everything else is by default permitted. It includes the common types of practice and self-defense ammunition. The presenter rocks a companion 9mm single-action revolver in the review. The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

9mm is now allowed in SASS, so a 9mm lever gun, which is only 10 rounds for that game, plus two of the new 9mm single actions, makes for a cheap and easy to feed trio for competition. Accuracy doesn't need to be MOA, as the targets are only about 15 yards away for rifle. :) I personally will stay with rimmed calibers, because I can, but I can see the attraction for the setup.
If I was getting one for OTHER reasons than cowboy action shooting, I would want more capacity and much better accuracy. |

Well, I picked it up. The FFL said it was the second one that day  .The short throw is pretty slick, the trigger is great, the LOP is spot on, and the 18" barrel makes it balance well. First 1873 pattern for me. Haven't had a chance to shoot it, but with any luck I'll get in a few rounds next week. I can hardly wait. Picture:  |

Shot my example today, and it's fun. Feels different than my other lever actions, it never "feels" tight like my Marlins. Straight up ejection is a little different, and the sound the elevator makes when it drops at the end of the lever's movement is distinct. Loading feels a bit different, in that you have to make sure the round is more in the "center" of the receiver before it will feed into the tube, as opposed to my Marlins where the round feels like it won't load properly if you feed it too far away from the feed port door side of the receiver. Hard to explain. Also, 9mm is about the length of the feed door, so that was different. But oh man it's a hoot. Not the most accurate thing I own, but definitely one of the most fun. I didn't think I would want to suppress it, but now I absolutely do. |

| An additional note is that it can get a touch sticky on the extraction after a number of rounds (close to 100). Might be due to the heat of the parts. I've never had a rifle with a brass piece as a critical linkage, but letting a spent casing sit for a bit in the chamber would often help a subsequent extraction attempt. |
