| saw Legacy Sports catalog which featured the Puma lever guns. Supposedly built in Italy by the outfit that did the Browning version a few years ago. I have yet to find anyone that has them in stock. Any info available on these ????? Could they be the same as Rossi's????? |

Check out the post by DakoktaFAL on the Rossi/Puma rifles. He explains it pretty well:
Rossi vs. Puma |
|
Quoted:
The Browning 92s and all Winchester 1892s made after the Browning models have all been made by Miroku of Japan, not any Italian companies. Totally incorrect. My three week old Puma 1892 which is imported by Chiappa is proudly stamped ITALY on the barrel stamp. It is a very nice rifle by the way OP. The pedigrees of these clones are notoriously hard to follow... ETA: Just re-read the previous post and I'm understanding it now to refer to rifles other than Puma, which I can't speak to and may be entirely correct so apologies to KW. |

Yes, I was referring to Browning and Winchester branded model 1892 rifles, and there is no doubt that I am correct. ETA: No problem, no offense taken. |

Of all of those, the Rossi 92 has a slightly different shape to the receiver, as well as (more recently) a pigtail safety on the bolt. ---- And to the OP, the linking one of the above posts outlines the changes in who made Model 92s for LSI. The current offerings are made in Italy by Armi Sport, who sells them under the Chiappa label and also makes them for Cimarron. They are very well made, very smooth cycling, and follow the Winchester pattern pretty closely, but they are about twice the cost of a Rossi 92, and with some effort, a little elbow grease and some Tru-Oil the Rossi's clean up really well. |
