Just got a Rossi 92 and was looking at how it feeds rounds. Does your case rim come up from the carrier and go under the extractor or does your bolt push the round into the chamber and the extractor snap over the case rim as the bolt closes completely?
My extractor snaps over the rim - just wondering if everybody else's does the same. |

It snaps over the rim.
It's not "controlled feed" in the same sense as the Mauser 98 or Pre-64 Winchester where the rim rides up under the extractor, pinning the cartridge to the bolt face. However, it is still "controlled" feed in the sense that the rim remains in the cartridge guides until the round has partially entered and is fully in line with the chamber. So it will feed in any position, but you won't be able to short stoke it to cycle rounds through the action. |
