Just picked up a Rossi 92 trapper in .357 and I'm having some feeding issues. It has fed every type of .38 I've tried but it wont feed any .357 and I've tried them all. It seems like the rear of the cartridge isn't getting picked up high enough and its causing the round to go into the chamber at too steep of and angle. A small jiggle of the lever and it will work it's way in but this is no where near ideal. Anyone have any input or am I better off sending it back to rossi or maybe Steves Gunz?

I recommend Steve Young highly, but you have to get on his waiting list and it's going to be a while before he gets to you.

I am having the same problem with my new one, picked it out a few weeks ago but have not had time to hit the range.  The bulk pack Wal Mart .357 ammo does the same thing, I don't have any other ammo to try so I am going to see tomorrow if a buddy has a variety to try out.  I am hoping that it is only a deal with the Remingtons but if not it will go back to the factory as I am not going to pay extra to have something fixed that should have been done right the first time.  I had read to look the Rossi rifles over for problems, and that is what I did and in essence paid an extra fee over the price I could have gambled on ordering off the net.  I am pissed to be honest, but should have known better than to expect anything more than I read on the net.  We will see.

I also have a new .357 Rossi M92 that wont chamber .357 rounds. I thought about taking it apart using Steve's Gunz DVD and doing his "tune up"  but I didn't see how this was going to help the feed problem. I'm sure it makes the action better.

I didn't see any reason to send it to Steve either. Why pay more money for a gun that's still under warranty. I sent it back to Rossi/Braztech/Taurus so they could deal with it.

Whatever you do, DONT send it back to Braztech Miami!

THIS is their version of fixing the problem!

They also managed to plow up a nice burr in the chamber and here is what it does to cartridges.

Its a toss up whether the cut case mouth, the groove scribed down the length of the case or the unsupported case around the rim is going to cause a KABOOM first!

My newly purchased 16" carbine is doing the same thing.......Steve suggested I send it back to Rossi, since he is running short on cart guides. I would prefer him to do it, but what can I say. At any rate, currently I am limited to 38 spl round nose ammo. Hope you have better luck than I.

My new Rossi (45LC) had a similar problem. The casing would get stuck with the rim down and the bullet hitting the top of the chamber. I polished the feed ramp and loosened the left cartridge guide screw about a quarter turn, took it to the range and ran 50 rounds through it without a hiccup. I guess the cartridge guides were just too tight to allow the round to feed up and into the chamber.

It seems like this is a common occurrence on "Newly" purchased .357's. I will fuck with the guid screw this week if that doesn't fix it then its going back to rossi if it comes back looking like TC6969's gun then its going back again or I'm getting my money back.
