about the best thing going for for a tube fed levergun ––- the blr obviously is not tube fed . It faces an almost insurmountable mountain when it comes to taking market share from the 30/30 though, which is slower and weaker but has more historical provenance
BAsically a modern improvement of the 307 Win ballistically , ––- with either one, you need to stockpile a few hundred rounds worth of brass ––- this will give you enough to reload for it for decades, as i dont see it on shelves in 5-10 years if that –– That said, just because it didnt catch on commercially doesnt mean its not good –––– I want a 307 myself Buy it if you are committed to putting back a bit of brass if it ever gets hard to find , and want a .30 cal traditionally styled levergun that rocks, but skip it if you want something easy |

I think it would be a great hunting gun. I know on Arfcom we like to stock pile thousands of rounds of readily available NATO ammo for when the SHTF, but like mentioned above, get some brass and you will be good to go.
I have to admit I have a weakness for leverguns and might get one someday. Next on the list is a .35 Remington. |

Just because some gun company insists on creatateing a new caliber with their name in it doesn't mean it offers any advantages.
Past experience shows us that there are usually some disadvantages with this thing. To be honest I am not totally familar with the balistics offered by the 308 ME. I believe it looks pretty good when compared with the 30/30 but at the close distances associated with lever gun hunting many of those advantages evaporate. When I start thinking of a medium to longer range hunting gun with a scope the bolt action just seems a better combination. I can hardly tolerate a small compact low powered scope on a lever gun (mostly ballance issues and stock shape issues) A long higher powered heavier and usually higher mounted scope just is a terrible match for a lever gun. I have to believe resale might be a problem with this caliber also |
