I have owned a .50 Alaskan for 8 years. Recoil can be tough when loaded to full power. i purchased it for two reasons. I wanted a lever gun that would put down anything that I would run into and still be able to load hard cast bullets at lower power levels and still have a hell of a stoppe for man or beast. Starline makes brass at a reasonable price and Barnes makes 450 grain JSP bullets that are great. You can cast yuor own bullets, with or without gascheck depending on your load, for even more shooting fun. It's not as cheap as 5.56 but a Chevy Silverrado is not as cheap as a Yugo. Your choice.
