Sam's Club will be discounting this setup $200. It will be $499 starting on May 10. The few reviews at Sams aren't too good. Looks to be running $700-$900 at other online stores. Anyone have thoughts on it?

Been doing some more investigation and this fella seems to provide a pretty good "Beginners Guide To Home Security":

After watching his video, I think that the POE may be better that the old style video cables this unit has.

I am in the same situation as you. I am looking for a reasonably priced all in one system for my small business.  I have been looking at the Swann and Samsung at Sams, and the Night Owl at Costco.

They advertise those cameras as 4mp, which they might be, but you're limited by the cable, which can't support full 4k, so you're paying for a '4mp system' and in reality you're lucky if you're getting 1080p.

Analog cameras can only do so much, and even the best analog cameras, can't hold a flame to mediocre IP cameras.

Personally I would suggest you look into the Reolink camera systems. They aren't as cheap as that Samsung, but you're getting a system that is true 4mp, is 100% POE, and has really good reviews. I have personally installed 1 full system, and I'm in the middle of installing another at my residence. The first I installed for my mom well over 15 months ago, and it has only had 2 minor hiccups, both of which were solved by restarting the NVR (which they suggest you do once a week anyway). The system is easy to install, run ethernet cable to the cameras, and you're done.

They do go on sale every-so-often. So if you don't absolutely need a system, you could wait. I lucked out and got a 16 channel system with 8 cameras for $799, and I have seen the 8 channel/4 camera sets get as low as $349.

I can't say for sure it's as good, or better than Hikvision, or some of the other higher end systems, but I do know it's less than half the price, and is great for my needs.

Thanks for your input. I checked camelcamelcamel.com and the $799, price at the beginning of last month was as low as it has ever been on Amazon.

On their Facebook page, they have some stuff at 20% off for folks that live in Canada only. :(

In one of their posts, they said to write them if you couldn't find a price I liked, so I did! I sent them a note and asked if they could meet the $799 price of last month. Will have to wait and see what they say. I'll report back either way.

They are also writing about the release of a 6K camera on their website too.

ETA.....
