I have a SentrySafe Model GS5311-1LG fire-resistant safe.  This is my original gun safe, and was an cheapo model from Academy.  It is going on 15 years old.

It has been relegated to the garage and now holds stripped lowers, parts kits, and some of my more valuable emergency supplies.  The electronic lock as never failed me and the bolts OPEN normally.  CLOSING the bolts is starting to become increasing difficult, and there is a hanging/skipping sensation that you feel through the handle.  I am assuming the bolt mechanism just needs some lubrication...is this something I can do without destroying the safe?

Will removing the felt covered sheet-rock on the inside of the door expose the bolt mechanism and allow me to grease the moving parts?

Thanks in advance.

Well, I guess no replies mean I should tear into it and see what happens.

Opened it up, cleaned the old grease out with brake cleaner, lube it up with some good quality grease, and now its good as new.

Thanks for posting your experience, I have an old sentry that serves as an ammo safe now and I'm having the same issue.  I will try what you did.
