I am setting a home security system.  I am using a hikvision nvr and was thinking about putting inside my gun safe.  It is a large safe but I am still wondering is too much heat an issue?  I realize it probably won't be an issue for my guns (it will act like a goldenrod), but I am worried it may get too hot and shorten the life of the nvr.  Anyone done this?  Any problems?

You're thinking of putting the recorder itself there?  If so, yeah, temperature could be a concern.  Do you have a Kill-A-Watt device to see how much power it draws?  I recall seeing that a Goldenrod draws around 5-10W, so if the recorder is in that range you'd probably be fine.

I believe it draws about 60w.  Would a 60w light bulb be too much in a safe?

I'd think that would be too much.  Does its software or web user interface give you a way of keeping tracking of the hard drive temperature?  Because that's the most temp-sensitive item in there, and should be kept below 40 deg C for longest life.

It needs airflow. If your safe is a fire safe that need runs contradictory to what it needs to protect its contents, i.e. no air drawn in. There are commercial lock boxes to secure the dvr that will allow proper airflow.
