I pieced together a security camera system for my home about 3 years ago. Evertech 700 TVL dome cameras and a Zomodo DVR 264 non HD. Now I'm starting to realize that it's outdated. I Had a package that was supposed to be delivered to my house my USPS, however it was delivered to my neighbors by mistake. USPS first denied this, and stated that it was delivered to my home, until finally realizing that it wasn't after showing them that the mail person only dropped off 1 piece of mail through my camera system. My Neighbor denies ever receiving package. My cameras pick up the mail man walking across the street and removing a large white item from her bag and walking up to the neighbors door, scanning it, and then leaving it. Neighbor comes home about 20 minutes later, looks at package and takes it inside. Now the neighbor denies ever doing so. The problem is, the camera system is so grainy from the front of my house to across the street, that it could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that it was left there. From about 0 to 15 feet, my cameras are very good. Anything beyond that, it gets very grainy and choppy I need new cameras and DVR. Something that it is good quality, but isn't going to kill me in price. Any recommendations ?

Sounds like you also need new neighbors...

Could you just add one camera that has a better distance lens and aim it toward the street, keeping the others in place for better close up views?

Either way. You have security footage that you never received it. They should be liable

If you can decipher what happened in the video, I would believe its sufficient. I don't know. I'm not a lawyer.

I went with Amcrest ProHD 3-megapixel PoE cameras. Power over Ethernet is cool because I only had to run one wire per camera, without connectors, then crimped a connector on after the pull. Small holes. Also, they all run to a PoE switch setup in a closet. But to find the DVR, the crooks have to follow a separate ethernet run to a pretty hard to access secret location. Resolution is awesome, night vision (IR illuminaed) is almost as good as daylight. The cameras were about $100 each. The dvr another $100, a commodity switch and an 8-port PoE pass-through power injector were another $100. All in all not the cheapest setup but works like a charm.

Poop in a box and send it to the neighbor.

Don't replace your system yet. You don't want the cops to be able to identify the guy with the baseball bat going over there to retrieve your package.
