Fairly limited on experience with cameras. I work around dairies and have installed some wireless parlor cameras recently. Basically a plug and play setup.

They asked me if i can install one on a crowdgate which is a gate that moves back and forth on a 160 foot long track. Google "dairy crowd gate" if you need to visualize it.

They want a camera mounted on it that will be waterproof (there are sprinklers in the pen that run 5 minutes per hour in the summer)  and have a screen by the milking platform so their milkers can see if a cow is getting ran over or pushed too hard.

The second problem is power. There is no power source on the gate. It runs off of air and has a long coil hose that can stretch out as the gate moves. A galv cable is strung inside of it to hold it up.

I havent had any luck finding something like that for electrical power, but i may be searching using the wrong terminology.

Any advice on a good screen, camera and power cable for wet and dusty conditions?

Couldn't you just get an outdoor camera that uses PoE? Put the cat 6 wire in conduit so it'll last longer. Have the box and display at the milker where the power presumably is?

Power over ethernet. Allows for a single cable running to the camera.

What cable will handle that? I need something that can ride on a steel cable but not droop or bunch up. Every hour it needs to be able to go from about 30 feet to 170ish feet and back to 30 feet again.

Its just an ethernet cable Cat5e or Cat6.  Are there already some other wires or cables you can strap it to?

I'll string a cable but the constant movement is going to break cat5. Thats my biggest issue. Once a year is fine, once a month is no good.

You can try 'direct burial' cat6 its more rugged and designed to be buried without conduit.
