For your entertainment, is it just me or is the estimated weight seem too low.

I don't believe either of the photos he posted are of the actual safe he's looking at, so it's impossible to say.   Antique double door safes can range anywhere from 1,000 to 20,000 pounds.  The first safe he shows is probably over 3,000 pounds.

The thread in GD is still active, OP has it on the trailer right now, he is guessing 4,000 lbs but I am not sure what he is basing that on, maybe hauling similar loads of the same weight.

If it falls through on the way home, it's likely heavier than he thinks.  If it doesn't fall through, he may be close.

How hard can it be with three buddys and a case of beer to move a two ton safe (or so they thought).

It's sitting in my driveway right now, waiting for the weather to break so I can unload it.

I'm pretty happy with the door gap.

I'll update this post if it falls through the trailer, crushes any body parts, knocks down my house, or anything else noteworthy happens.

Barnes was the retailer.  I believe it's a Pittsburgh.

Those are thick doors. Are there locking pins on the hinge side too?

You should be covering that.   Too late now, I bet all your neighbors is like "I wonder what that guy needs that big safe for" ;)

Got it off the trailer and into the garage today. Hopefully I can get the interior pulled out and redone soon.

Looks like a cool project. Are you going to repaint it?

Got some time to work on it today in between hanging out with my son. After getting the safe positioned where it'll permanently reside I was able to begin tearing out the interior.

Found a drawer FULL of old keys and a Snap-On 3/8" combo wrench. There are car keys, house keys, old skeleton keys, and every other type you can imagine.

Gotta feed the kid and then I'll continue with the deconstruction. I'm hoping to gain more interior space and build a much more firearm friendly safe. Every little bit counts!

Eventually. Getting the interior setup to my liking is the first priority.

Progress!

Looks like I found out who the original owners were.

How big is the interior with the original shelving gutted? I'm curious how much space you will end up with given the thickness of the doors and body.

Leave them on? It'll be bolted to the slab and to the wall behind it.

It is heavy enough that bolting isn't necessary.  Looks like it has managed 100 years of use without somebody picking it up and walking off with it.

Been busy with work and raising an infant, so no real updates. I removed the set of inner doors and plan to keep them off. Right now all of my guns are just leaned in the corners of the safe. Need to get some organizer racks fabbed up eventually.
