Hey guys,
My brother just gave me a new GE Simon XTI system. It came with something like 12 door/window sensors, a bunch of motion sensors, and garage sensor as well. Long story short, I don't know much about a wireless security system...specifically the GE Simon XTI system. I was hoping for some feedback for those of you guys in the know. I'd like to hook it up in my Grandmother's place since her hardwired system is a decade or so old and it would be nice it she had more features/customizations. From my brief research, it looks like the Simon XTI can be used with different cellular providers and basically any alarm company can program and use it. Thanks in advance! |

I installed a GE NX-8E myself and it wasn't too bad. Dig up the programming manual and eventually you'll get the hang of it.
If I had to do it over, I would likely go Honeywell or Elk due to the variety of connectivity available. GE is pretty old school but super stable. To learn to program it in depth required alot of google searches and research at Home security forum. |

I have never programmed the XTi myself but have done a few thousand XT panels when they were the go to panel for most. They are simple but very reliable panels. Programming is very simple with them.
