hey guys new member and couldnt get the search to turn up anything or maybe im just a tard, aslo google isn't turning up much. went through some of the archives too...
long time lurker of the forum! ive been researching safes for about a month now and this fourm has helped me TONS... orginally i was planning on getting a sturdy safe but have a line to pick up a old mosler safe. its a larger double door and more than i need (probably than ill ever need) but i know... get double the size i think i need. exterior dem. 76" tall 58" wide and 38"deep dont have much info on it yet but i was curious as to what opinions are to going this route, i know without very much info its hard to give an answer but im just looking for the basics untill i update this with more info hopefully later today. any postive insight will be appreciated! |

ok thanks for the respones, you're a knowledgable guy. seen several of your post around the internets
considering the sturdy i was looking into has a 3/8 door and 4+7gauge walls pretty sure i'd be better off with the sturdy...? also i'll be building a new house next year, considered just getting a TL-15 and adding a sprinkler above the safe along with putting a layer or two of drywall inside and some seals around the door? what say you? again i cant thank you and the forums enough for the info |

The fire protection the Mosler offers will be far superior to anything found in your typical gun safe. The safe does use thinner steel than the Sturdy, but it's using dual walls with a cast fill. This makes it fairly robust. Some of these safes also had a T-20 rating, which isn't much different than the RSC rating of today, but for 20 minutes instead of 5.
I suppose it depends on how much the Mosler would cost you. We get $1,500 to $2,000 for a safe like that around here, with a new lock, and a one year warranty. You can keep it as long as you like, and it will still be worth roughly what you paid. |
