I'm looking for a way to secure a carry pistol for those times when I just have to leave it in the car (aka about to go into a government building, large concert etc) The glove box in my car doesn't lock so I need something else.

I'm looking at these units but open to any recommendations:

Club LB200

Southern Houswares Portable Safe

Gunvault NV300

I use this for quick access, portable car to car n house. Small & fits under seats, center consoles, some bigger glove boxes etc. has hole for steel cable and modded for larger cable. Secure, not the thickest steel box, but this trade-off allows it to be hidden in tighter small spaces. This was the smallest, quickest access, secure handgun safe for this application that met my needs:  Shotlock CCW  If I had a trunk to store/ lock it in or a floor/ hatch compartment that could fit it, I would use my Amsec PS1210HD... A beast of HEAVY steel to defeat if it is bolted to floor or heavy cable to tether securely! In our area the Thugs are hitting cars at the 'gun safe zone' parking areas because they know it is guaranteed fish in barrel if they hit enough cars. Lock it away out of the Thugs casing eyes when you cannot to the best thing and carry it on you.

Try a console vault. They are heavy duty and made for just about every model.

I don't see Ford Focus listed on their website. Bummer.

Although I prefer the FAS1 units for most of my applications, V-Line offers different configurations, some of which work well for automotive installations.

Take a look at Tuffy.  They make great stuff.

It's the preferred product for Jeeps.  I have one and it's very well built.

They also don't make one for the Ford Focus. Maybe no one with a focus has anything worth locking up?

Give them a call.  I use a model that fits under my driver's seat.  With a couple different brackets it could also fit in the Focus.

I have a lot of the GunVault and they are beyond terrible. This is a case of where spending too little is a waste of money. I tried to give one away to my mother when she asked for something to lock up pills in her house and she gave it back. In fact, in a previous post I listed that I had five pistols safes, and I didn't even include these in that list as they count for nothing. That Club box for $22 or the other one for $20 on Amazon look  better if you are trying to spend almost nothing, but that budget is really too small to expect much.

The others look better, but I would never want a key lock. Look for something with a Simplex lock such as the FAS1, Fort Knox FTK-PN Personal Pistol Box Handgun Safe, or V-Line. Yes they are $150 and up, but that is what it takes.

I have a center-of-mass lock box bolted to the body of my pickup behind the rear seat. I use it in the exact manner you are looking for. I drive a regular cab Ranger so it's impossible to access while driving, but it does it's job securing the weapon while I am away.

Just so you know all the boxes with cables are useless . The boxes are decent the cables can be cut with ease with a set of linesman pliers .
I took the NV300 junked the cable made the cable notch on the box a little deeper ran a chain through it shoved a bolt to secure it to the box .Now you will need bolt cutters to take my box .
My intend was to slow them down and make it more time consuming to get my box . A cable just aint gonna do it

The gun vaults are a complete joke. There use to be videos on youtube.com that would show you how easy they are to open. The best affordable solution that I have found is simply a pair of good handcuffs. One around the seat post, and the other through the trigger guard or other area of your choosing and you are GTG. I used this method for years, worked well, fairly quick to get to and the price was right. YMMV
