| I'm looking for a safe that will be decent, but not the best. I won't be doing anything to permanently attach it, but I need something. I was browsing on Cabela's to get a baseline I see there is a ProVault Safes by Liberty and a Liberty Centurion Explorer Safe. Are there other options that I should consider? Within the next 2-3 years it will likely be treated as a secondary safe for less important things, but as I said I need to get something. Not terribly concerned with the number it holds, anything 8+ would be adequate, need the height for longer shotguns. Arfbrothers to the rescue? |

Stack-On SS-22-MB-C 22 Gun Fully Convertible Security Safe with Combination Lock, Matte Black
Amazon and Costco have quite a few safes in that range with free shipping. Mine wouldn't fit in my car, so I had to have it shipped. I like my stack-on. Has good organization capabilities inside. It is not fire resistant, but I have always felt that was useless anyways. |

Do you have a Sportsman's Warehouse nearby? If so, check out the Yukon Gold safes. Depending on size you will go a little over your budget but the YG12 is somewhere in the $500 range.
They're imported by Browning andsold under the YG label. They're made in China but are pretty good for their price range. RSC rated with a minimum of fire protection. They're covered under Browning's warranty if something goes wrong. http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Browning-Yukon-Gold-YG12-Gun-Safe/productDetail/Gun-Safes/prod999901368906/cat100054 Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

Doesn't matter if you spend $500 or $5000. You need to bolt it down or theives can and will just cart the whole thing off or tip it over and attack the weaker points. I would look for something that has the UL rating of RSC as a starting point. You can grab one in your price range easily. Scheels, Sportsmans warehouse, Basspro, Cabelas etc all carry something that should work. The last thing you need to do is put it in a place that eyes are less likely to see. Be this your bedroom, basement, spare closet whatever. This is your best deterrent, if you can try to find a corner or enclosed space to prevent ease of accessing the sides and back of the safe. |

My neighbors had a 400lb floor safe stolen from their house, and the robbers tipped it onto a rug and dragged it out. Golf balls make good rollers for moving heavy safes, too. |
