| I have a Canon safe with a S&G e lock that is acting up. I've read here how it is more difficult to go to a manual lock. How hard is it to put a new e lock in? How do I find which model S&G lock I have now? |

The model shouldn't matter. All of the UL rated locks share a common footprint, so that you can interchange between mechanical, key, and electronic fairly easily. What is important is to know what type of electronic lock will or will not work in your safe. The two most common types are a swing bolt, and square bolt. Square bolt locks will work in almost all applications. Swing bolt locks may not work in some types of safes.
Another important note is that the warranty on the lock will not apply if you install it yourself. You may also void your safes warranty, although that's not always a concern. |

Ok, so how do I know which type will work in my safe? Looking at Ebay and Amazon at replacement elocks, most don't say anything about swing or square bolt. |

You'll need to get that information from the person you're buying the lock from. You could e-mail the e-bay seller or Amazon, but I doubt you're going to be dealing with anybody who knows what they're dealing with there. I would contact a safe company, knowledgeable locksmith, or the safe manufacturer themselves for a replacement. |
