Any body have one?
I need a safe and $800 is what I have available , 2nd story apartment.
I've been looking at this one ,but then my local shop has a sale on the winchester WBG-5936-27-E for the same price. ( I believe it's  the pre 2012 improvements)
Thinking I should just go with the one with more space but I'm concerned about the weight, should I be?

Ive got one. I love it.

I know its limitations. For fire, true safe security, and brand recognition. I could not afford a 2500+ safe though.

It fits nicely in my office closet next to my rack of gear and ammo. Had to mod the closet a tad for depth clearances. I use rifle rods for my long guns, and then a wired pistol rack for my pistol's. Plenty of other room for other related items.

I do live in a great neighborhood. And took other precautions around the house to prevent break-ins too. Cleared the bushes in front of the windows, yard is kept up. Upgraded the locks, installed door jamb protectors, better lighting around the exterior. We have a watch in the neighborhood as well. Plus lots of traffic in front of the house since its close to the main roads. Less likely to have an issue.

Plus the contents of the safe are nothing that I cant replace. No precious heirlooms. Also got a rider thru the insurance for the ammo/gun related items.

Knowing and performing those other items, I was happy with this unit, and know its limitations well. But suits my basic needs, and can always go bigger later on.

When comparing traditional gun safes to each other Champion had good value IMO.

They say most break ins are smash and grab so a RSC will thwart most bad guys plus it keeps little hands from getting into trouble.

If you "go big" later you can use it to store ammo etc.

I didnt like the Winchester because it was Chinese mfg.

I'm learning that there really is minimal difference in the <$1100 range other than size, appearance and customer service. Would that be a correct statement?

Seems it all comes down to how many guns tells you which to get.
China or Mexico, 45 min at 1200 or 30 minutes at 1325 and electronic or dial.
So now I'm any where between the tractor supply Winchester for 650 up to the Fatboy Jr and the champion 52 collector series.

And I thought car shopping with a limited budget was frustrating.

In my opinion, in your price range, there is not a lot of difference, they will be similar import RSC's offering a similar level of performance. The U.L. listed lock is important (and making sure what you buy has one!).

VERY happy customer with two Champion safes.  A 2001 Challenger 25, and a 2012 Crown 50.

I have a Trophy 33 and like it a lot. Holds ten long guns and a bunch of pistols and related gear with some room to spear.

I just bought a Challenger 20 which is made by champion. I believe it's made in mexico. Has a solid 3/8 inch steel plate door. Seems to be pretty nice. 45 minute fire rating. Door organizer, I'm assuming 12 gauge steel body.  and it was only $600 plus tax.

Think I'm going with the champion collector series 41, from what I'm told it's the line that they make for some of their dealers.
A lot bigger than I thought I wanted, but the wife unit told me to get the bigger one because she still has a lot more guns that she wants to get.

That I'll pay for I'm sure.

I have a champion medalist and really like it.  It fits in the closet of a spare bedroom perfectly.  I do know it's limitations, but its perfect for my needs.
