Thanks for the input. I do have complete flexibility to build out any kind of enclosure around the safe I can dream up. Within reason... A poured concrete or fire brick wall might be pushing it. A drywall box with a door on the front shouldn't be too difficult to do though. And of course... the required new to me safe Pic. Not quite as pretty as the others in this thread, and I wasn't too worried about paint scuffs since I've already been grinding, welding and drilling into this thing. The boom truck operator did a double take when I told him how much it weighed. We had to reposition the lift to accommodate the weight because it was over what his crane could do at the moderate reach we needed to get into the basement. Attached File Attached File |

Recently purchased a used AmSec RSC. Just wondering what someone can tell me about it. MFR FILE: BP6526 MODEL RLT/RST It has the DATE CODE - Quarter/Year but was never filled out. The sticker also says it was assembled by ANGEL VACIO. The safe has cutouts for 60 long guns and 1 shelf also the interior floor is not flat, but it is built as an opened up V. TIA, Dennis |

It seems BP6526 is for a group of safes: https://productiq.ulprospector.com/en/profile/6312067/tqde.bp6526?term=TQDE&page=2 This means your safe is one of the BF, BFX or BFS lines of gun safes. The difference between BF and BFX seems to be the bolt work. BF has movable bolts on top, bottom and opening side with fixed bolts on the hinge side. The BFX has movable bolts on all four sides. You can see this e.g. in the Amsec catalogue of 2020. No idea what a BFS is. The model numbers are constructed by the height of the safe in inches and the width of the safe in inches. E.g. the BFX6636 is (nearly) 66" high and 36" wide. With this information you will likely be able to find the model number of your safe and from this in the net more information about your safe. PS: From your gun capacity it sounds like a 7240. In the catalogues the BF7240 has on top and bottom side of the door each one bolt, the BFX7250 each two bolts. |

In the 2006 catalogue is a BF6040 with a weight of 1115 lbs. If you forgot 10" in height, then it could be a BF7240. PS: https://california-safes.com/amsec-bf6040.html |
| I don't have access to the records anymore, but as I recall the RLT/RST tag designation was not a BF, that was the older non-filled safe, with or without drywall liner. The manufacturing ID/date tag would say BF if it were a genuine BF model. The Serial Number would be the primary key to identification. You can call the factory and give them the serial number, they will tell you the model and date of manufacture. |

Congrats on the new Gig! Sounds cool! Sorry AMSEC treated you like that and that helps a bit now as I'm looking for a new safe (from you recommendation years ago I got a BF6030 that I love (just can't find a mover to move it cost effectively.) Now I can research other companies too thanks again and good luck! |

Hey gang... thanks for the continued support. I try to keep up with industry news and what's happening. Looks like things are quite dull since I left, no real interesting new products out there in a while. I guess that ended when I left. Me, well things are still going very well with my business. I am primarily doing Engineering design and consulting. It's become quite lucrative, and I'm not missing the big corporate title and all that. I work when I want, on my terms, and making better than good numbers now, so it's a win-win. You'll all be jealous, a ton of the work I'm doing now is in the firearm's industry. I have two clients that are manufacturers, and I have completed some 25-30 product development projects for them. It's a kick in the pants to be re-designing Bolt Carrier Groups for AR's, hand guards, pyrotechnics, after market hardware, and stuff like that. I can't say too much, I'm under NDA, so no names of product brands I can share. I have a lot of stuff in other industries too, big stuff and small. This is a lot of fun, and there is no lack of demand, working 50-60 hrs per week when I want to. Anyway, I'm still here, loving life and keeping engaged. |

I'm looking at a used AMSEC BF6030 from 2009. It appears to overall be in good condition, no damage, no water stains, etc. Some questions for the hive mind, if anyone knows: -Differences between the 2009 version and a current production? -Am I giving up (or gaining?) anything significant with a 15+ year old safe? -Would it be sensible to put a new E-lock in just for "safety" to theoretically reduce the risk of it spontaneously dying and locking me out? -What else should I look at or be thinking about?

Thanks for havin me, based on some of the reading material looks like a solid group of yas. Hopefully this is where im supposed to post, but if not just let me know. I was hoping to get any info possible on an AMSEC safe i bought a few years ago. Id like to find out the exact model so i can hopefully get some accessories for it. The shelf that has all the grooves to hold the guns was broken so id like to get a new kit for the inside. Based on the model on sticker a bunch if different possibles show up online. I cant figure out how to attach pics? The serial # is: GS 172029 and the sticker with model info is: PRODUCT ID: # 15785-2 MFR.
