I just made a spur of the moment decision and purchased a 1yr old Stack On Total Defense 36-gun safe with the electronic lock for $550. Just curious if I made a good decision? Anyone have a Stack On safe and have any reviews or feedback? I like the fire rating, and they fact that it can be set up for 18 guns, and shelves for ammo, jewelry, etc and has a 72 hr, 2ft water proof rating... Is there any issues the electronic lock? Did I get a decent deal?
Any input you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks |
| I would change out the electronic lock. I think the safe you are talking about is a $700 safe right now. Maybe more. So Id consider it a deal at least. S&g mechanical would be best. If you cant do it you may be able to take the door to a locksmith and have him do it. I wouldnt have him come over to my house and do it because its no ones business is why I suggest taking it to him instead |

I think I have the same make of Total defense you bought, mine is like this with the dial lock.
I have been very happy with mine, I picked it up several years ago as a scratch and dent for $400. It is one of the few in the lower price range at the time that had top and bottom bolts. I have had no issues with it, works great, locks up tight. My only issue was the shitty plastic hardware that came with it for holding guns inside. Most broke during instillation as the plastic was terrible. I tossed all that and made my own rifle racks. Mine is now wired with motion sensor activated and timed rope lights, so when you open the door they come on automatically. Overall I would buy it again, at a similar discount price. |
