I went to dicks sporting goods and picked up their field and stream gunsafe (made by stack-on.) Don't beat me up on my choice, but it's much better in the cheap steel cabinet I was using. I haven't pulled the door back off yet to investigate the locking mechanism but it looks like it's my next step. I have tried the search function (Google) with no specifics and only speculation how-maybes. I would assume that it has been done before but like everything else in the world, this had not been put up on YouTube or a "this is how I did it" thread
Before someone chimes in and says call a locksmith" I'll go ahead and say that's not the answer to the quesion with only some degree of relevance. I know I can call a locksmith. I also know I don't want to call a locksmith. I may add well add that calling the company isn't informative either, because they say call a locksmith, and they will only release the information to a locksmith. Simply put, I'm not going to pay a locksmith to come over, make a phone call (if they don't already know how to do it,) for the same information on something I am capable of doing myself. I was hoping someone may have experience with these Chinese safe locks and may be able to add some education to my inquiry. Or if you have a step by step video or how-to laying around (link), that would be awesome but I am doubting that is realistic |

you will need to find out who manufactured the lock by removing the back and looking at the unit unless you can find that out on the internet. If its a manual dial there will be a hole in the back (the back of the safe door usualy has a matching hole so you dont have to remove it) That a key on mine looks like a modified allen wrench that you will need to get. I got mine off ebay but they are different for each lock.
THen its as simple as put key in turn it. Dial new combination using the other mark on the face of the dial ring.Remove key. Check to make sure it works before closeing the door and locking the safe. This is how a LaGuard works your milage may differ. |
